Christmas lanterns

I used the Tim Holtz vintage Noel die and Sizzix nested squares die and cut them out using glitter paper. I painted  plain wooden plaques and wood knobs and glued the two together to make the lantern base.

Christmas wall hanging

For this wall hanging I took a plain white canvas and painted it green and after it was dry I used a Tim Holtz layering stencil for the background. Next, I used distress inks on a piece of manila file folder and then embossed it using the Tim Holtz Christmas embossing folder. I then used the following Tim Holtz dies: Window, mini cardinal, garland, crescent moon and stars, stacked boxes. I cut the Christmas tree out with my Cricut.

I thought I would go ahead and enter this into Inspiration Emporium's Christmas in June challenge since I like how it turned out.

Fall Lantern

I'm not going to lie, the Tim Holtz Luminary die was a little tricky for me to figure out but once I did it went together fairly smoothly. I am still having trouble figuring out how to fold the top part though, I lucked out the second time I tried it but haven't been able to do it again.

I started off by cutting the luminary die out of printed paper and then took a Tim Holtz script stamp and distress ink and lightly stamped over the cut pieces. Next, I glued vellum to the openings of the lantern and stamped the acorn stamp (also from Tim Holtz) onto what would be the inside of the lantern. I then glued the lantern together (I found hot glue worked best.)

Next, I took the Tim Holtz Autumn Gatherings die and cut out the leaves and branches using different colors of cardstock and lightly sanded them and glued them to the 4 corners of the lantern. I then cut out an acorn from the Tin Holtz mini acorn and pumpkin die using grunge paper and inked it using distress inks. I added some Crackle Accents to the top of the acorn. The banner was cut using the Brenda Walton Shadow Box die and I stamped the saying using alphabet stamps.

Here is what the lantern looks like when it is lit up (sorry I am not the best at taking pictures.)

Haunted Graveyard

I love how this turned out. I started off by taking a plain round wooden plaque and painted it black. I cut the Tim Holtz Iron Gate die out of black card stock and then glued it around the base of the plaque. I took a white bottle brush tree and with Tim Holtz spiced marmalade reinker and a mini mister, I sprayed the tree. I cut some bats out of glitter cardstock from the Tim Holtz Halloween Shadows die and glued them onto the tree.

Then I cut the Tim Holtz graveyard die out with grunge board and took Tim Holtz brushed pewter distress stain and painted the grave stones. After they were dry, I gave them a light sanding and took an ink blending tool and Tim Holtz walnut stain distress ink and added some over the stones. To finish off the grave stones I dabbed some black soot distress paint onto my craft sheet and used my finger to rub the paint onto to the edges of the grave stone. Finally, I glued all of my pieces into place and added some moss in and around the scene.

I am entering my graveyard into the Inspiration Emporium September challenge

Apothecary Tag

I made this tag using the tim holtz window die, apothecary bottles die, mini bat, and pediments die. I cut out three of the windows with chipboard and cut out the panes and then layered them on top of each other for depth. I cut the bottles out of shrink plastic and after I shrunk them I colored them in with alcohol inks. The spider web and spider is from the Sizzix Trick or Treat die set.

Window wall hanging

I started off by cutting the Tim Holtz window die and pediments die out of chipboard and painted them using distress paint. I then cut out the spider web using the Tim Holtz cobwebs die with black card stock and then glued a portion of it to the back of the window. Next, I glue a piece of clear packing material to the window. Using the Tim Holtz Halloween shadows die, I cut out the trick or theater’s with black cardstock and glued them behind the window. I then took some glue dots to add even more layers and placed the window over a piece of printed paper. The window has a lot of layers to it to give it dimensions and making it look 3d.

I cut the pumpkin from the Halloween shadows die with cardstock and took an ink blending tool and colored it with distress ink and then put a layer of glossy accents over it and sprinkled on some fine orange glitter. I then put a piece of cardstock behind the pumpkin which was colored with yellow distress ink. Also cut from the Halloween shadows die was the black cat.

The bat is also a Tim Holtz die which was cut from cardstock and colored with black soot distress ink and then I added black glitter. For the garland and “dirt” I got this idea from Tammy Tutterow by taking the Tim Holtz Holly, beaded, snowflake garland die and cutting out 3 of the bows and coloring them with distress ink and then stacking them onto another section of the garland. The “dirt” is some distress embossing powder I sprinkles over top of some glossy accents.

Next, I took a piece of a piece of a manila file folder and did the wrinkle free distress technique using Wild honey distress stain, ripe persimmon  and spiced marmalade distress ink. After that was dried I embossed it with the Tim Holtz Halloween background texture fade and then took an ink blending tool and black soot distress stain and highlight the words. To finish this piece, I cut out a section from the Vintage Lace die using black glittered cardstock.

Finally, I took a canvas and painted it black and then took an ink blending tool with Pumice stone distress paint and one of the new Tim Holtz layering stencils to finish off the background. I am happy with how this turned out.

For once I had just about everything Tim used for this tag on hand. These were a lot of fun to make.

Lantern

Thanks to Shelly Hickcox and her awesome idea for this lantern I had to make one as well. I used the Trick or Treat Sizzix die to make it. I love this die and wish there was a Christmas one like it.

Rickety House Tag

This was for a swap where we were required to use the Rickety House die from Tim Holtz. The stamps that were used are from the following Tim Holtz sets: Apothecary, Mini Ornates, and Paris to London. I also used the Halloween Shadows die and Notebook embossing folder (for the house) from Tim Holtz.

Postcard swap

I made this for a Halloween 4x6 postcard swap. The background was made using Tim Holtz distress inks and the wrinkle free distress technique. I then took a Tim Holtz Halloween embossing folder and diffuser and ran the cards through my Sizzix machine. To bring out the embossed words, I brushed on Black Soot distress ink with an ink blending tool. The Skull stamp is from the Tim Holtz Apothecary stamp set. I also used the vintage lace die and the spider from the Candlelight fright die.

Early Halloween tag

For this tag I used a combination Ripe Persimmon and Scattered Straw distress inks for the background using the wrinkle free distress technique. I then used a Prima stencil and black homemade molding paste for the damask design.

Using black archival ink, I stamped the skull from the Tim Holtz apothecary stamp set onto watercolor paper and colored the image in with pumice stone distress ink with the Tim Holtz watercolor brush and antique linen distress marker. For the Happy Halloween label I colored it in with crushed olive and dusty concord distress stain. I then coated the images with Claudine Hellmuth multi medium.

I finished off the tag with some Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon colored with crushed olive distress stain, then added a Tim Holtz cork vile and stamped the tiny skull and crossbones image from the Apothecary stamp set onto the bottle.

12 Tags of 2013- July

I finished my tag for this month early and like how it turned out.  After I finally found my brayer I got to work and this was what I came up with. I didn't have the other Old Glory die so I used the mini one. I tried the crackle paint first and then used stains over that like Tim did but didn't like how the color turned out so I cut another flag from grunge board and stained it first and then added a layer glossy accents crackle and after that dried I added another layer of stain which made the color more vibrant.

DCWV top ten- May

I made the DCWV top 10 stack-a-holic challenge again for May! So excited! Here is a link to the challenge http://dcwvinc.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

My brother asked me to do a craft project for him for a retirement gift. He had a poem he wanted me to frame and here is what I came up with. I used the Tim Holtz Postage frame and sized squares dies and Sizzix circle dies. The retirement gift was for someone who works at the school my brother works at and the colors are blue and gold so I played off of those colors and then framed the finished piece in an 8x8 memory scrapbook frame from Hobby Lobby.

Father's Day card

Here is a card I made for my dad for father's day. I used the gears, postage frame, sized squares and tag and bookplate dies and an embossing folder from Tim Holtz along with metallic distress paint and stain.

Crosley

I was going to enter this layout in the DCWV stack -a- holic challenge last month but didn't get it submitted in time. The picture is of my dog Crosley who unfortunately passed away a couple days ago :-(  I am making this post in honor of her.  I used the DCWV Steampunk Botanical stack.

Mother's day card

I used  the Tim Holtz Vintage lace and Tim Holtz Cameo Frame dies. To make the card I folded a piece of cardstock in half and put the crease part slightly inside of the cameo die so it wouldn't cut through on one side (hope that makes sense) to make a card. Also used was Tim Holtz Tall Text stamp set.

I got a jump start on this month's tag. I am happy with how it turned out.

Best day EVER!!

I had the best day ever at the Memories Scrapbook Expo in Columbus! I have always wanted to go but never had the chance to and my dad surprised me by taking me there and I got to meet Tim Holtz all thanks to my dad! I was at a booth looking through some items for sale while my dad went to the bathroom and passed Tim who was on his way out and he asked Tim if he would go over and say hi to me. As I was looking at the things for sale I hear someone come up behind and say my name and I turn around and it was none other than Tim Holtz! I was beyond excited and still am. He was so sweet and let me take a picture with him!!

I also had to get a picture with Mario, Tim’s Sidekick.
(Mario and me)
                                                       (me, Ted, and my dad)

I had made a card for Ted Cutts owner of Stampers Anonymous for his birthday and was waiting for the right time to give it to him because he was busy running the booth. So as I was watching Tim do some demoing Ted walks by collecting some things for a customer and when he was done my dad put his hand on his back and started talking with him.  Ted is an awesome, down to earth guy and we talked with him for about 15 mins.

He loved the card I made for him (which was similar to the one I made for my dad on his birthday because my dad suggested I make him one like that since it was his favorite card from me.) After I gave him the card, Ted asked me if I got to meet Tim and this was after Tim and I got a picture taken together and said yes I did and then he asked me if I got his autograph and I said no and he asked me if I had anything I would like to have him sign so I got out the Stampers Anonymous catalog I received earlier that day when I purchased some things. So Ted interrupt Tim’s demoing and asked him to sign it for me! How cool is that!?!?!

Ted tells Tim to make it out to Brandy and Tim is looking around asking who it was for and I raise my hand and he says “oh yeah we met earlier” I am still in awe this happened to me all thanks to my dad! I think I am going to take him with me to places more often :-) For this being my first time ever at a scrapbook convention I would say it turned out pretty well!!!

I made this tag for the color palette challenge on the Ranger blog. I used Tim Holtz distress inks for the background (which I love how it turned out and hated to cover it up), distress crackle paint, stickles clear rock candy (for the flowers), Tim Holtz tattered florals die, mini leaf die, tag and bookplate die, Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium, sticky back canvas, Tim holtz stamp, Easter images and words from the seasonal paper pad, and metal flower embellishment from Tim Holtz.

Tattered Florals challenge

I made this using the Tim Holtz pocket die, Tattered Florals die, and Flourishes die for the Tattered Florals challenge. I cut the flower from sticky back canvas and then inked them with distress ink. After they were dried I stamped them with a Tim Holtz reflections script stamp and then put a layer of Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium to seal them.
